Life without freedom is like a body without a spirit. We are glad to welcome you to the month of springing free from whatever has kept you captive. To prosper in health and mature in the spirit, you need to be truly free from the tyranny of fears, anxieties, insecurities, and doubts. Freedom, like Herbert Hoover puts it, is the open window through which pours the sunlight of the human spirit and human dignity.
However, the world has gone past the age of physical servitude when humans were chained, transported, traded, and abused by ship-owners and political lords. Fetters are no longer needed to make slaves of people in the 21st Century. Academic degrees and certifications do not also guarantee the liberty of the human soul. There are rich and educated people who are slaves to their emotions and fears. Many are prisoners of their minds, caged by the limitations of their hearts, and restricted by the mysteries of the unknown.
Moreover, different unpredictable things happen within the timelines of our lives that might keep us in bondage and prevent us from fulfilling our purposes. This could be an unpleasant experience such as failure, heartbreak, loss of a loved one, hurtful betrayal, disappointment, etc. The society also enforces some cultural and social constraints that impede us from freedom in a subtle way.
Nevertheless, this is the month to remind yourself that God has not given you the spirit of fear but of power, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1: 7). He has called you to walk in mental, physical, and spiritual freedom (Galatians 5: 13) and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3: 17). Enduring freedom and peace of mind is attainable. This will require you to let go of the hurt and bitterness you have for those who wronged you, commit to the process of your healing, rearrange your priorities, take your routine exercises seriously and be intentional about having positive mental, social and physical disposition.
It is true that people are born in cradles, live in boxes, and die in coffins but you are no bird, so why should the nest ensnare you. You are a child of God, the sovereignty of His unquestionable presence dwells in you (1 John 4: 4). No one and nothing has the power to stop you. You are never abandoned and there is more to you that your fears intend to hide from you. This month, break free from the shackles of inattention, get your life together, unmask your true spiritual identity, and engage every opportunity with confidence. When you do this, no one can stop you.
